Steven Morgan

Welcome to my website! I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science and Social Data Analytics at The Pennsylvania State University, and an affiliate of the Center for Social Data Analytics at Penn State.

I conduct research on political behavior and political communication in the United States. My research employs computational social scientific approaches, with an emphasis on text data and machine learning. My dissertation exams the politics of rights framing: rhetoric emphasizing personal liberty over personal responsibility and civic obligation.

I previously worked in the financial services industry, specifically at Citigroup, Inc. (Private Equity Services), SS&C Technologies, and BNY Mellon. I have also been employed at a policy think tank, The RAND Corporation.

I received my M.A. from the Department of Political Science at Penn State. Before attending graduate school, I received a B.A. in Political Science and Business Administration from Thiel College in Greenville, PA.
